So glad I found this forum! We have recently moved into our new home (one level concrete slab on grade) with radiant floor heat. We have 3 zones, with two of them up and running. The third zone is the attached garage which is not on yet since we have yet to finish the insulation, etc. We are having difficulty understanding the thermostat and what it is "thinking". I did find a post that the Cp needed to be changed to 3.6 (ours must have been one of the ones leaving the factory preset at 10-something), so I have done that. Here are my questions:
1. We have the air temp set at 55, but it heats the air to 66 or so based on the watts thermostat, but based on the a/c thermostat it appears the temperature is 72 (which is closer to what it feels like). Will changing the Cp make these temperatures more in line with each other?
2. There have been a couple of mornings where we have woken up and the house is quite chilly. The pipes coming out of the boiler are cool...just like the whole system shut down. Once we increase the temperature up a couple degrees it kicks in and warms the house up, but of course it takes awhile. What could be causing this?
3. There are times when the thermostat set at 55, the air temp is at 66 and it keeps kicking in. It will only kick in for a few minutes...will turn off and repeat that cycle for 10-20 minutes. Any thoughts on what might be going on?
4. Is it better to set the thermostat to keep a constant floor temperature or to keep it at air temperature? Which one will keep us more comfortable? Which one will keep the boiler from kicking in so often? We live in ND with temps recently dropping to 0 and below.
Thanks so much for any input you may have!
