The company I work for is using hydronic heating to prevent freezing of the ground below a large freezer warehouse. So, it will be installed in the sub-slab below some insulation. I am curious about the various options for where and how to mount the hosing.
Some of the Watts Radiant pictures seem to show the following.
-------------- <-Top of sub-slab
--x--x--x--x-- <-Wire Mesh for structural purposes
0 0 0 0 <-Hose tied to wire mesh below. --x--x--x--x-- <-Wire mesh ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <-Rock Base
We were considering the following option.
-------------- <-Top of sub-slab
0 0 0 0 <-Hose tied to wire mesh below.
--x--x--x--x-- <-Wire Mesh for structural purposes
-------------- <-Bottom of sub-slab
However, with the above, I am a little concerned that the weight of the hose will cause the structural mesh to sag. Though perhaps it can just be supported more frequently, and still be less work than putting down two meshes. I suspect the process would be to first put the mesh on the rock base, attach hosing, then raise the mesh up and tie onto the supports.
Anyone else have an approach they care to share?
[by the way, I will mention that I find it very annoying that you are forced to watch a commercial before you can register on the forum]
Thanks for any advice, Joe
